Acepromazine, often called Ace, is commonly used to tranquillize horses for veterinary procedures when it is used as an aid in calming and controlling fractious horses during examination, treatment, loading and transportation

Its use on geldings and stallions can cause penile prolapse, or an inability to retract the penis back into the sheath, in rare cases this can be permanent
