If a mosquito or other insect bite is persistently itchy, drop two Alka Seltzer tablets into a small glass of water, dip a cotton wool ball into the glass and apply it to the bite.
Don’t do this if you are allergic to asprin, as its a key ingredient in Alka Seltzer.
